Why we created the 1 MIllion PPE Challenge.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is in short supply. Healthcare professionals and first responders don’t have what they need to protect themselves from COVID-19 while risking their lives to protect us. FIRST
in Michigan is challenging our teams to donate a total of 1 MILLION Face Shields
, Face Masks
, and Safety Glasses
to hospitals, first responders, and others on the front lines.
All donations will track in one central place.
We know FIRST
teams from kindergarten to high school are already busy using their innovative skills to make and donate PPE. The 1 MILLION PPE Challenge website will provide a place for all teams at all levels to set goals and track the number of items that they donate. Let’s make our collective impact loud.
Join the fight.
Learn what hospitals and other organizations need.
Our volunteers call the hospitals every few days to find out what they need. You can find a list of the items each hospital is willing to accept linked below as well as their preferred designs. If you are a hospital or health care provider in need of PPE, contact email@example.com
to register your need.
Recruit your team.
Recruit the WHOLE community to join your challenge team. The more people you mobilize, the more donated items your team will log. Ask your sponsors to send the challenge out to all their employees. Do the same with your neighbors, family, friends, houses of worship, and community associations.
Register your organization.
For non-FIRST teams, you can join the fight, too. Register your company, organization or group and start tracking your item donations as part of the challenge.
Make or gather the items needed.
Make or gather the PPE items you can with the resources available to you and donate them to a group of your choice.
Log the items your team donated.
Each member of your challenge team should log their own items donated. Follow these steps:
- Provide your FIRST team number and program name (FRC, FTC, FLL, or FLL Jr) to each member of your challenge team.
- Each member then creates an account on this site using that team number and program name.
- Click on “Log Donation” to enter the number of items donated to a single organization. If you donated to more than one organization, input the donations separately. The first entry can include an estimate of the number of items already donated. Log back in as often as you like to add newly donated items.
Stay home. Stay safe. Save lives.
Above all, stay safe and obey the stay-at-home and social distancing rules while participating.
